Traceability is not a single document. It is the connection between what was planned, what was received, how it was handled, where it moved, and who accepted each handoff.
Define the record before movement begins
- Agree product identifiers, quantities, storage conditions, and delivery points.
- Define which documents are required at receipt and delivery.
- Set an escalation route for damage, temperature events, shortages, or document discrepancies.
Keep the workflow proportionate
The level of control should match the device, project, and customer requirements. Clear, usable records are more valuable than paperwork that does not support a decision or handoff.
